Published wage tables, federal risk data, permit registries, and lodging tax authorities are useful context for a host. They become a problem when they are copied into a spreadsheet without a source and a date, and later read as if they were your own figures.
Keep the source and the retrieval date
Every public table you rely on should carry where it came from and when you pulled it. Public data is versioned. A wage table from one period is not the same as the next period's table.
Beside, never inside
Show public values beside your entered numbers, never inside them. A reader should be able to tell at a glance which figure is yours and which is published context.
