Preparing evidence for a Host Damage Protection request

What the process asks for

Airbnb's Host Damage Protection, part of AirCover for Hosts, asks hosts to submit evidence when requesting reimbursement: photos or video of the damage, documentation of the item's condition before the stay where available, and receipts or estimates for repair or replacement. Airbnb's published guidance describes the required documentation; the terms are Airbnb's, and eligibility and reimbursement decisions are Airbnb's alone.

Being ready before anything happens

  • Condition records per stay. Dated photos from each turnover, so you have condition records from before any problem surfaces.
  • Damage records the day you find it. Photos, plus a note with the date and circumstances. Requests have filing windows, so knowing the checkout date matters.
  • Costs. Receipts, invoices, or estimates for the repair or replacement.
  • One file per stay. The request concerns one reservation; evidence scattered across months of camera roll is the common failure.

Organized is not the same as approved

No tool and no checklist changes who decides. StayTurn does not determine eligibility or guarantee reimbursement, and Host Damage Protection is not insurance. What preparation changes is whether your submission is complete, dated, and tied to the right stay.

StayTurn is a $39 one-time kit that keeps those records organized by stay on your own device and exports a date-stamped packet when you need to submit one. See the Solo kit.
